The weekly report issued by DSC monitoring the prices of food commodities in the blessed month of Ramadan in the markets of Dubai showed that the prices of food commodities recorded a slight increase during the week by 0.28%, compared to the last week of the month of Shaaban, due to the increase of the prices of some of the items in the Ramadan consumer basket.
DSC monitors the prices of about 513 food item and 912 prices on a daily and weekly basis. It will continue to publish its report on the inflation of the prices of food commodities on a weekly basis, in addition to the monthly inflation reports including all commodity groups that are announced monthly.
The report also showed a significant increase in the prices of fish and seafood by 7.09% in the first week of Ramadan due to the increase of some types of fresh fish. The prices of milk, cheese and eggs also increased by 0.99% due to the increase in some types of powder milk and eggs. The increase in the prices of some pickles and food flavors led to an increase in the prices of the group of other food commodities unclassified under other categories, such as food flavors, pickles and other items, as the index of this group recorded an increase of 0.45%.
The report also showed that the prices of beverages recorded an increase of 0.72%, due to the increase in the prices of some commodities in the group of tea, coffee and cocoa, as the group increased by 2.51%.
In spite of the increase in the aforementioned groups, the price of fruits decreased by 3.47% and he group of meat decreased by 1.68%. Moreover, the price of the vegetables group decreased by 0.48% due to the decrease in the price of some of the items included in the vegetables group.
