Dubai Strategic Plan and Decision-Makers' Requirements are DSC's Top Priorities

Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) has already achieved straight successes and the credit goes to adopting the highest global standards adopted in the statistics business where the requirements of Dubai Strategic Plan, decision-makers, planers and development policies makers are placed at the top of DSC priority lists.

Owing much to this policy, Dubai Emirate has started out issuing its official indicators and economic, social and demographic statistical reports with full integration through regular periodicals, as well as providing innovative statistical services to the various concerned segments of the society. In view of that, Dubai has become the superior destination for the those who are searching for the best statistical practices.

Since its establishment before more than 10 years ago, DSC's success and the excellence of its staff have been the trigger for augmenting its excellence in line with its strategic plan launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, May Allah Protect Him, during Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition 2016. This strategic plan did reveal a new chapter of accomplishments in the honorable history of DSC and has been an innovative contract between the Government of Dubai and DSC.

By the end of 2016, DSC celebrated a year full of achievements at all various statistical, administrative, technical, functional and community levels. DSC was bale able to achieve the goals set up since the beginning of that year and even surpassed them to achieve other goals created during the actual implementation of projects and its developments besides the context of the surrounding circumstances.

One of the most prominent projects being accomplished is the construction of the economic analysis model "Input and Output Tables 2014-2016". It is one of the strategic projects associated with the Dubai Plan 2021 and implemented by DSC in partnership with the Department of Economic Development. Additionally, DSC has already completed the project of the "Development of Statistical System of the Workforce of the Emirate of Dubai" which provides detailed and comprehensive data on workers in institutions, departments and authorities in the public and private sectors.

Statistical Projects

DSC's projects included the "Dubai Census of Population System", which is a high- class strategic statistical project aims at updating Dubai census of population implemented through several integrated government databases. Furthermore, among DSC projects is the "Dubai Labor Force Survey 2016" specializes in measuring labor and unemployment indicators and identifying the structure of the workforce in Dubai to serve the requirements of strategic planning for the labor market. The project is implemented according to international standards adopted by the International Labor Organization.

DSC's projects also included the "ICT Survey". It is a national survey steered by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in all emirates of UAE. DSC was in charge of the survey processes carried out in Dubai as a strategic partner in the project.

DSC's projects also encompassed the "Foreign Investment Survey" where the Center conducts a field survey of foreign investments for economic establishments with foreign investments.

Indicators

DSC also publishes a range of indicators and publications on an annual basis, for instance: Construction Costs Index, Average Prices of Building Materials, Foreign Trade Data, Education Cost Indicators, Purchasing Power Parities, labor force surveys, Gender Bulletin, Population Indicators Bulletin and Dubai in Figures Bulletin.

In 2016, DSC initiated two new indicators in addition to its list of periodic indicators.
