Consumers Price Index of food and beverages
hit a rise by 0.10 per cent during the first week of the Holy month of Ramadan
(May) 1440 AH compared to the last week of Shaaban (April) month 1440 AH, Dubai
Statistics Center (DSC) reported.
Analysts attributed the rise in food and
beverages prices to the rise in prices of fruits by 1.73%, vegetables 1.26%,
mineral water and soft drinks and juices 1.10%, food filed under another item
0.74%, oils and fats 0.68%, tea and coffee and cocoa 0.15%, and sugar, jam,
honey, chocolate, and sweets by 0.14%.
Meanwhile, prices of certain groups went
down, including fish and seafood by 1.65%, meat 1.14%, cereals and bakery
products 0.50%, yoghurt, cheese and egg by 0.13%.
