Prices of Fish, Vegetables and Fruits Fluctuate in Ramadan Month

Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) revealed that the prices of fish and seafood declined in Dubai during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan (June) compared to the last week of the month of Sha'baan (May). The prices of fish went down by 2.03 per cent and seafood by 8.30 per cent. Also, prices of vegetables witnessed a slight turn down by 0.22 per cent due to decline in prices of certain vegetables, such as: tomatoe, onion, squash, cabbage, sweet potato, and carrot.

As stated by DSC's report, fruit prices increased by 0.89 per cent due to higher prices of certain fruits, including: water melon, melon, apple, guava, strawberry and pomegranates. On the other hand, prices of meat, dairy products, egg, rice, cereals and bakery products remained significantly stable.

It is also stated in DSC's report observing prices of food stuff during the holy month of Ramadan hat unlike the first week, prices of fish and seafood increased during the second week by 4.48 per cent where fish prices hit an increase by 0.93 per cent and seafood prices by 14.06 percent.

Additionally, prices of vegetables rose by 1.93 per cent owing to the rise in prices of some types, including tomato, eggplant, garlic, broccoli and radish. Meanwhile, prices of fruits significantly fell down by 4.45 per cent due to drop in prices of certain types, such as: orange, grape, melon, mango, kiwi and pineapple.

During the second week of Ramadan, prices of meat, dairy products, egg, rice, cereals and bakery products remained stable compared to the first week of Ramadan.
