During her participation at the Statistical Future Foreseeing Laboratory
Her Excellency Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, stressed the importance of statistical work in achieving national agenda targets and UAE Vision 2021, and its crucial role in monitoring and measuring the levels of happiness, which translates the objectives of the National Program for Happiness and Positivity and its axes, especially that's of measuring happiness, through contributing to the development of indicators and mechanisms for measurement, in the absence of universally specialized indicators in this area.
This came during attending the Statistical Future Foreseeing Laboratory organized by Dubai Statistics Center under the title «Statistics towards 2030.. For Creating Happiness», with the participation of leaders of statistical work in the statistical bodies of the State.

Her Excellency pointed out that economic growth is not an accurate measure of welfare, unless it is employed in achieving happiness of society. She stressed the importance of developing indicators to measure happiness and positivity, using modern tools that fit State orientations towards achieving global leadership, by relying on tools of future foreseeing in designing a scientific and thorough index measuring happiness and positivity, in line with government directives to make future foreseeing part of the strategic planning process.
Her Excellency Ohood Al Roumi commended the organization of the Statistical Future Foreseeing Laboratory, aiming to start long term planning for managing statistical work to reach advanced levels. She also provided an explanation of the National Program for Happiness and Positivity, "Future".
The Creative lab was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Thani, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Director of Statistics and Community Development, Sharjah, Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of Statistics Centre of Abu Dhabi, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Director General of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, Dr Ibrahim Saad, General Manager of the Fujairah statistics Center, Tariq Al Janahi, Deputy Executive Director and CEO of Happiness and Positivity in the Dubai Statistics Center, Ahmed Al Sheryani, Executive Director of Strategy and Organizational Excellence in Abu Dhabi Statistics Center, Dr. Ibrahim Akoum, Executive Director of Ras Al Khaima Statistics Centre, together with select managers, experts and consultants in the areas of statistics and information technology.
Paradigm shifts
Arif Al Muhairi, Executive Director of Dubai Statistics Centre, stated that organizing this lab comes as an interaction with Emirates Innovation Week, seeking to draw a scene of future statistical work, ensuring the UAE leadership in managing this strategic developmental area, where statistical work witnesses strategic shifts, and associated sectors, such as information technology and data management, witness major shifts that need to be foreseen in order to make a leading statistical future.
