Mohammed bin Rashed: Achievement and Outrivaling has no Limits …. Excellence has a Never-Ending Start.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, today said that achievement and outrivaling has no limits and that excellence is a way that has a starting point but never-ending horizons. He emphasized that the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) has been a key driver for enhancing services and improving policies in Dubai Government over the past 21 years. Over the years, Dubai has set an example for service excellence for countries in the region and beyond.
"Since its launch 21 years ago, DGEP has become a synonym for excellence, accomplishment and quality," His Highness added. He also said that the DGEP has contributed to developing a culture of excellence across the GCC and the Arab region and making Dubai a byword for service quality.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed's remarks came as he honored the winners of the 21st edition of DGEP at a ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai were present at the award ceremony.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Group; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation; and H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also attended the awards ceremony, in addition to the winners of DGEP awards representing government authorities, individuals, work teams besides a number of senior Dubai government officials.
Paying Attribute
In the ceremony held in Dubai World Trade Center and attended by directors of government authorities of Dubai and their staff, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed thanked all the employees of Dubai Government and expressed his appreciation for their efforts to achieve excellence during the past twenty years and turning DGEX into a world-class indictor of excellence. He underscored: "I extend my deepest appreciation to Dubai Government staff for their great efforts, and for the winners our appreciation is double. We do need newer ideas need to be generated to ensure we make another leap in service quality in services quality in the next phase of Dubai's growth."
"Those who were honored today are our best performers, and everyone should learn from. Their success and commitment to excellence should be a source of inspiration for everyone," His Highness said. "At the same time, those who have achieved excellence still have a lot more to do, as accomplishment and excellence have no limits. It's important that those who achieved outstanding excellence share their experiences with their colleagues. Individual efforts and excellence need to be streamlined to achieve excellence on an organizational level," His Highness said.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed stressed: "DGEP has contributed to making Dubai at the top spot in the region and the world in the area of developing government services provided to the public, rapid delivery of these services and excellence by all standards."
Sheikh Mohammed also said that excellence is a culture in the UAE. "What we have accomplished in terms of development and progress in every sphere of life is the result of our commitment to meet the aspirations of our people and be the best deservedly."
Addressing the winners, His Highness said: "You are the pillars of our future. Your innovation and hard work and your commitment to ensure the best for your nation will have a great impact on the future of our country. The UAE and Dubai will always be pioneers in the world and will not settle for anything less than first place," Sheikh Mohammed added.
Innovative Administrative Initiative
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), received the Independent Energy Producer Award for the Innovative Administrative Initiative category. The initiative contributed to promoting investment in the renewable and clean energy sector and attracted AED 26 billion of FDI, in addition to raising the target for diversification of energy sources in 2030 from 5% to 25%, besides providing12,000 job opportunities, including 25% jobs for Emiratis by 2030.
Joint Government Service
Dubai Municipality and Dubai Civil Defense won the award in the category of Best Joint Government Service for issuing building completion certificate. Indeed, the service contributed to the achievement of UAE the second place in the pillar of obtaining construction reports in the International Competitiveness Report. Also, procedures of joint service were reduced by 75% to be completed by 5 steps instead of 20 steps. This enhanced the customer's experience, and the time required to provide the joint service was reduced from 17 days to one day only.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was awarded the Dubai Giving Award for implementing the guide on volunteering in business environment for government entities and for DEWA's excellence in selecting community initiatives and voluntary activities via identifying needs and achieving the highest rates of voluntary community initiatives for the total number of institutional initiatives. Dubai Customs clinched the award of government authorities supporting Expo 2020 for implementing an integrated initiative to sustain the use of the resources of Expo 2020 for future phase, as well as ensuring the quality of communication mechanism with Expo 2020 team through the formation of an integrated team and identifying clear tasks to coordinate between teams involved from both parties.
DEWA also won the award of People-of-Determination-Friendly Government Entity (large-sized entities) while the Public Prosecution Department won People-of-Determination-Friendly Government Entity (medium-sized entities). DEWA also put hands on the award of Best Entity in Customer Happiness (large-sized entities) for achieving the best result in the study of customers' happiness by 93.1%. the same award dedicated for (medium-sized entities) went to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for achieving the best result in the study of customers' happiness as it achieved 95.4% in total scores.
The best result achieved in the study of employees' happiness (large entities) went to the Dubai Municipality for achieving the best result as it scored 89.3%. As for the same award dedicated for (medium entities), it was granted to Dubai Statistics Center for scoring the highest percentage of 95.9%.
At the end of the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had a photo group with the work team of Dubai Government Excellence Program and winners.
UAE Giving
Dr. Ahmed Al Nusairat, General Coordinator of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, delivered a speech during the ceremony stating that: "This is the UAE Giving founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, May Allah rest their souls in peace, on values of giving, love, peace, tolerance and respect." He added: "This Dubai, the world icon and the dream of the new world; the world's city and indeed the world in a city."
"The inspirational leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is a driving force that will provide the role model at all times," said he.
He signed off by stating: "We, the employees of Dubai Government, working under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, vow to follow your steps and adopt your approach in serving people and gain their love and respect and to achieve their happiness."
