Inflation Rate of Dubai Stands at Rise by 1.99% in Q1

Annual inflation index of consumer's prices hit a rise level by 1.99% in Q1 of 2018 compared to Q4 of 2017, according to a report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC).

The rise is attributed to increase in prices of both Transport Group by 5.90% leading inflation to upswing by 0.61 point and Restaurants and Hotels Group by 8.20% pushing inflation rate up by 0.33 point.

Additionally, prices of a range of groups witnessed an increase, including Food and Beverages Group by 2.16% increasing inflation rate by 0.27 point, Telecommunications Group by 5.61% increasing inflation rate by 0.27 point, Miscellaneous Goods and Services by 3.99% pushing inflation rate up by 0.24 point, Education Group by 1.01% rising inflation rate by 0.09 point, Clothing and Footwear Group by 3.63% rising the inflation rate by 0.08 point, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group by 2.20% increasing inflation rate by 0.08, Recreation and Culture by 3.64% intensifying the inflation rate by 0.07 point, Tobacco Group by 9.20% intensifying the inflation rate by 0.05 and Health Group by 0.18%.

On the other hand, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel decreased 20% which lessened the inflation rate by 0.09 point.

Upon comparing Q1 of 2018 with the same period of 2017, the report shows that the inflation rate soared high by 2.27% due to the rise in transportation prices by 7.86% leading inflation rate to rise by 0.89-point, food and beverages prices rose by 5.48% pushing inflation rate up by 0.66 point and restaurants and hotels prices increased by 12.21% resulting in an increase in inflation rate by 0.47 point.

The same applies to prices of Education which rose by 3.95% making inflation rate rise by 0.35-point, Telecommunications Group by 5.52% increasing inflation rate by 0.27-point, Tobacco Group by 74.16% affecting the inflation rate to rise by 0.24-point, Clothing and Footwear Group by 6.80% rising the inflation rate by 0.14 point, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group by 2.11% increasing inflation rate by 0.08 and Health Group by 0.58%.

Noteworthy, prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel went down by 1.07% which minimized the inflation rate by 0.48 point, prices of Recreation and Culture went down by 11.44% decreasing the inflation rate by 0.25 point and Miscellaneous Goods and Services prices shrank by 1.44% pushing the inflation rate down by 0.09 point.
