Dubai Annual Price Index Drops by 1.82% in March 2020

​The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 1.82% in March 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 6.00%, which reduced inflation by 2.54 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 6.02%, which reduced inflation by 0.12 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 3.21%, which reduced inflation by 0.06 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 0.72%, which reduced inflation by 0.04 points and Health Sector dropped by 0.01%.

On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 4.56%, which boosted inflation by 0.59 points, Education increased 1.66%, which boosted inflation by 0.16 points, Tobacco increased 14.90%, which boosted inflation by 0.09 points,  Transportation increased 0.69%, which boosted inflation by 0.07 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.48%, which boosted inflation by 0.02 points, Communications increased 0.23%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points and Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.21%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points.

 

Consumer Price Index Drops by 0.68% in March 2020

General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.68% in March 2020 compared to the February 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 1.33%, which reduced inflation by 0.54 points, Transportation dropped by 3.15%, which reduced inflation by 0.35 points. Entertainment and Culture dropped by 4.85%, which reduced inflation by 0.09 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 0.39%, which reduced inflation by 0.02 points, Restaurants and Hotels dropped by 0.09% and Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance dropped by 0.07%.  

While prices of the following sectors were increased: Foods and Beverages increased 2.51%, which boosted inflation by 0.33 points, Tobacco increased 0.09% and Communications increased 0.05%.

Prices of the following sections were stabilized: Clothing and Footwear, Health and Educations Sectors’ prices remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
