Dubai Manufacturing Sector Producer Price Index Drops by 5.86% in Second Quarter of 2020

The Manufacturing Sector Producer Price Index dropped by 5.86% in the second quarter of 2020 compared to first quarter of 2020, as it is dropped by 8.23% compared to second quarter of 2019.

The Manufacturing Sector Producer Price Index dropped by 5.86% in the second quarter of 2020 compared to first quarter of 2020, as a result of the drop of prices of the following sectors: Drop of Refined Petroleum Products by 41.72%, drop of Manufacture of Basic Metals by 10.46%, drop of Rubber and Plastics Products by 3.70%, drop of Fabricated Metal Products, Except Machinery and Equipment by 2.28%, drop of Leather and Related Products by 1.16%, drop of Machinery and Equipment N.E.C. by 0.65%, drop of Motor Vehicles, Trailers and Semi-Trailers by 0.64%, drop of Tobacco Products by 0.61%, drop of Food Products by 0.35%, drop of Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 0.13%, and drop of Furniture by 0.11%.

On the other hand, the prices of other sectors increased compared to the first quarter of 2020, as the prices of the following sectors increased: Other Manufacturing increased by 7.52%, Printing and Reproduction of Recorded Media increased by 6.95%, Chemicals and Chemical Products increased by 3.82%, Paper and Paper Products increased by 3.08%, Beverages increased by 0.82%, Textiles increased by 0.42%, Electrical Equipment increased by 0.05%.

Whereas the prices of the following were stabilized: Wearing Apparel, Wood and Products of Wood and Cork, Except Furniture, Basic Pharmaceutical Products and Pharmaceutical Preparations and Other Transport Equipment and Repair and Installation of Machinery and Equipment.

The Manufacturing Sector Producer Price Index dropped by 8.23% in the second quarter of 2020 compared to second quarter of 2019, as a result of the drop of prices of the following sectors: Drop of Refined Petroleum Products by 54.83%, drop of Manufacture of Basic Metals by 15.04%, drop of Motor Vehicles, Trailers and Semi-Trailers by 5.95%, drop of Leather and Related Products by 5.09%, drop of Machinery and Equipment N.E.C. by 5.06%, drop of Rubber and Plastics Products by 4.49%, drop of Basic Pharmaceutical Products and Pharmaceutical Preparations by 3.83%, drop of Textiles by 1.63%, drop of Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products by 0.90%, drop of Electrical Equipment by 0.75%, and drop of Furniture by 0.53%.

On the other hand, the prices of other sectors increased in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the same quarter of 2019, as the prices of the following sectors increased: Other Manufacturing increased by 29.71%, Printing and Reproduction of Recorded Media increased by 13.79%, Chemicals and Chemical Products increased by 6.86%, Fabricated Metal Products, Except Machinery and Equipment increased by 4.25%, Food Products increased by 2.82%, Paper and Paper Products increased by 1.10%, Beverages increased by 0.36%,Tobacco Products increased by 0.15%.

Whereas the prices of Wearing Apparel, Wood and Products of Wood and Cork, Except Furniture, Other Transport Equipment and Repair and Installation of Machinery and Equipment were stabilized in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the same quarter of 2019.
