Dubai Annual Price Index Drops by 3.41% in September 2020

The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 3.41% in September 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 6.13%, which reduced inflation by 2.52 points, Transportation dropped by 7.60%, which reduced inflation by 0.83 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 13.69%, which reduced inflation by 0.29 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 2.61%, which reduced inflation by 0.16 points and Clothing and Footwear dropped by 1.44%, which reduced inflation by 0.03 points.

On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 2.03%, which boosted inflation by 0.27 points, Tobacco increased 15.08%, which boosted inflation by 0.09 points, Education increased 0.56%, which boosted inflation by 0.05 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.37%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.08% and Health Sector increased 0.06%.

While Communications Sector prices remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.

Consumer Price Index Dropped by 0.45% in September 2020

General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.45% in September 2020 compared to August 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 0.82%, which reduced inflation by 0.33 points, Transportation dropped by 0.55%, which reduced inflation by 0.06 points, Foods and Beverages dropped by 0.33%, which reduced inflation by 0.05 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 0.72%, which reduced inflation by 0.04 points and Tobacco dropped by 0.01%. 

While prices of the following sectors were increased: Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.19%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points, Education increased 0.14%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points, Entertainment and Culture increased 0.11%, Clothing and Footwear increased 0.06% and Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.06%.

Prices of the following sections were stabilized: Health and Communications Sectors’ prices remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
