The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 3.41% in October 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 6.96%, which reduced index by 2.86 points, Transportation dropped by 6.29%, which reduced index by 0.68 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 12.22%, which reduced index by 0.25 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 2.25%, which reduced index by 0.05 points and Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 0.26%, which reduced index by 0.02 points.
On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 1.90%, which boosted index by 0.25 points, Tobacco increased 15.02%, which boosted index by 0.09 points, Education increased 0.55%, which boosted index by 0.05 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.72%, which boosted index by 0.03 points, Communications increased 0.31%, which boosted index by 0.02 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.34%, which boosted index by 0.01 points, and Health Sector increased 0.09%.
Consumer Price Index Dropped by 0.27% in October 2020
General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.27% in October 2020 compared to September 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 1.28%, which reduced index by 0.51 points, Foods and Beverages dropped by 0.60%, which reduced index by 0.08 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 1.03%, which reduced index by 0.02 points and Tobacco dropped by 0.01%.
While prices of the following sectors were increased: Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased 1.88%, which boosted index by 0.12 points, Clothing and Footwear increased 5.03%, which boosted index by 0.10 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.98%, which boosted index by 0.05 points, Transportation increased 0.46%, which boosted index by 0.05 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.59%, which boosted index by 0.02 points, Communications increased 0.26%, which boosted index by 0.01 points and Health increased 0.02%.
Where as prices of Education remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
