Dubai's Annual Price Index Drops by 3.44% in June 2020

The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 3.44% in June 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 5.54%, which reduced inflation by 2.29 points, Transportation dropped by 13.39%, which reduced inflation by 1.54 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 11.63%, which reduced inflation by 0.24 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 6.44%, which reduced inflation by 0.13 points and Communications dropped by 0.10%.

 

On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 3.49%, which boosted inflation by 0.45 points, Education increased 1.87%, which boosted inflation by 0.17 points, Tobacco increased 15.96%, which boosted inflation by 0.09 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased by 0.50%, which boosted inflation by 0.03 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.25%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.12%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points and Health Sector increased 0.06%.

 

Consumer Price Index Increased by 0.16% in June 2020

 

General monthly index of consumer prices increased by 0.16% in June 2020 compared to May 2020 as a result of price increase of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel increased 0.28%, which boosted inflation by 0.11 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased 0.86%, which boosted inflation by 0.05 points, Transportation increased 0.11%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.12% and Tobacco increased 0.01%.

 

While prices of the following sectors were dropped: Foods and Beverages dropped by 0.08%, which reduced inflation by 0.01 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 0.18%, Restaurants and Hotels dropped by 0.05% and Communications dropped by 0.04%.

 

 

Prices of the following sections were stabilized: Clothing and Footwear, Health and Educations Sectors’ prices remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
