Dubai Annual CPI Shrinks by 2.68% in June 2019

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) Rate hit a drop level by 2.68 per cent in June 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas by 6.40 per cent leading inflation to go down by 2.75 per cent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 2.26 per cent pushing inflation down by 0.14 per cent, transportation by 0.99 per cent that lessened inflation by 0.11 per cent and health group went down by 0.30 per cent.

In the meantime, CPI of Restaurants and Hotels group went up by 2.52 per cent leading the inflation rate to rise by 0.11 per cent, Food and Beverages group rose by 0.52 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.07 per cent, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group by 1.47 per cent adding to the inflation rate 0.06 per cent, Recreation and Culture group by 3.29 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.06 per cent, Tobacco group by 1.93 per cent to increase the inflation rate by 0.01 per cent, Communications group rose by 0.13 per cent leading inflation rate to increase by 0.01 per cent, Clothing and Footwear by 0.20 per cent and Education group stood at a rise by 0.03 per cent.

 

CPI Rises by 0.10% in June 2019

As for the CPI of June 2019 compared to May 2019 it stood at a rise by 0.10 per cent. Grounds for such an increase are attributed to a rise in Food and Beverages group by 1.83 per cent leading to an increase in inflation rate by 0.23 per cent, Transportation group by 1.25 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.14 per cent, Restaurants and Hotels group went up by 0.03 per cent and health group rose by 0.01 per cent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a decline, including: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and fuel by 0.48 per cent leading inflation rate to decline by 0.20 per cent, Recreation and Culture group declined by 2.36 per cent pushing inflation rate down by 0.05 per cent, Tobacco group went down by 0.89 per cent resulting in a decline in inflation rate by 0.01 per cent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group dropped by 0.20 per cent pushing inflation down by 0.01 per cent.


On the other hand, the groups of Clothing and Footwear, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance and Education maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
