The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit a drop level by 2.97 percent in August 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.
It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 6.12 per cent leading inflation to go down by 2.59 per cent, Transportation Group by 4.12 per cent that lessened inflation by 0.48 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group declined by 4.93 percent making inflation rate less by 0.10 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 1.22 percent pushing inflation down by 0.07 percent, , Tobacco Group decreased by 0.95 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.01 percent and Communications Group went down by 0.16 percent to lead inflation to drop by 0.01 percent.
In the meantime, CPI of Food and Beverages Group rose by 1.08 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.14 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group went up by 1.81 percent leading the inflation rate to rise by 0.08 percent, Recreation and Culture Group by 2.80 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.06 percent, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.45 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent, Health Group rose by 0.14 percent and Education group stood at a rise by 0.03 percent.
CPI Stood at Rise by 0.28% in August 2019
As for the CPI of August 2019 compared to July 2019, it stood at a rise of 0.28 percent. Grounds for such an increase are attributed to an increase in Transportation Group by 3.41 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.38 percent, Recreation and Culture Group by 2.34 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.05 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 0.49 percent pushing inflation down by 0.03 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group went up by 0.07 percent, Tobacco by 0.01 percent, and Communications Group by 0.01 percent.
Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a decline in rates, including Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 0.44 percent leading inflation to go down by 0.18 percent and Food and Beverages Group which declined by 0.05 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.01 percent.
On the other hand, the groups of Clothing and Footwear, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, Health and Education maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
