Dubai Annual CPI Drops by 3.04% in July 2019

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit a drop level by 3.04 percent in July 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 6.27 per cent leading inflation to go down by 2.68 per cent, Transportation Group by 3.60 per cent that lessened inflation by 0.41 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 2.09 percent pushing inflation down by 0.13 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group declined by 4.93 per cent making inflation rate less by 0.10 percent, Tobacco Group decreased by 0.96 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.01 percent and Communications Group went down by 0.01 percent. 

In the meantime, CPI of Food and Beverages Group rose by 0.96 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.12 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group went up by 1.78 percent leading the inflation rate to rise by 0.08 percent, Recreation and Culture Group by 2.97 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.06 percent, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.52 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent, Health Group rose by 0.14 percent and Education group stood at a rise by 0.03 percent.


CPI Falls by 0.43% in July 2019

As for the CPI of July 2019 compared to June 2019, it stood at a decline of 0.43 percent. Grounds for such a decrease are attributed to a decline in Transportation Group by 2.24 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.26 percent, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 0.42 percent leading inflation to go down by 0.18 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group declined by 5.12 percent making inflation rate less by 0.10 percent. Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group went down by 0.37 percent reducing the inflation rate by 0.01 percent, and Communications Group stood at a decline by 0.11 percent, making the inflation rate less by 0.01 percent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a rise in rates, including Food and Beverages Group which rose by 0.47 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.06 percent, Recreation and Culture Group increased by 2.21 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.05 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group went up by 0.13 per cent leading the inflation rate to rise by 0.01 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went up by 0.18 per cent pushing inflation up by 0.04 per cent.


On the other hand, the groups of Tobacco and Education groups maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
