The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 4.42% in January 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 8.83%, which reduced the index by 3.60 points, Transportation dropped by 6.68%, which reduced the index by 0.74 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 8.93%, which reduced the index by 0.18 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 1.08%, which reduced the index by 0.07 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 2.57%, which reduced index by 0.05 points and Health dropped by 0.01%.
On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 0.90%, which boosted the index by 0.12 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.64%, which boosted the index by 0.03 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.63%, which boosted index by 0.03 points, Education increased 0.36%, which boosted the index by 0.03 points, Communications increased 0.13%, which boosted the index by 0.01 points, Furniture, and Tobacco increased 0.10%.
Consumer Price Index Dropped by 0.67% in January 2021
General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.67% in January 2021 compared to December 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 1.01%, which reduced index by 0.40 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 7.26%, which reduced index by 0.15 points, Transportation dropped by 0.82%, which reduced index by 0.09 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services dropped by 1.31%, which reduced the index by 0.08 points, Health dropped by 0.07%, and Tobacco dropped by 0.03%.
While prices of the following sectors were increased: Entertainment and Culture increased 1.26%, which boosted the index by 0.02 points, Restaurants and Hotels increased 0.30%, which boosted the index by 0.01 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.13%, which boosted the index by 0.01 points, Foods and Beverages increased 0.03%, and Communications increased 0.03%.
Where as the prices of Education remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
