Al Muhairi: Innovation is the “Pass Code”
to Excellence and Sustainability
Hitendra Patel: DSC is a Role Model being
the first Institution in the GCC to be granted GIMI Certification
Being
the first Institution in the GCC to receive such an international prestigious certification,
Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) has received Level 1 Certification by the USA
based Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI) known as the international
gold standard for Innovation Management. Noteworthy, GIMI has certified
over 400 institutions for the innovation systems they adopt.
DSC
praises this achievement and reinforces its pledge to excel through innovation
in the words of its Executive Director Mr. Arif Al Muhairi: " Innovation
is a government policy and trend that we strive to implement with the aim in
mind to achieve the highest levels of efficiency in statistical work practices
and to support planning and decision-making processes. It is innovation that
DSC places in the essence of the adopted values and all its operations and
processes. Absolutely, innovation will continue to drive DSC’s efforts towards excellence,
and it embodies its commitment to such a principle and above all the commitment
of all of us to work hard to achieve further progress.”
Al
Muhairi took the opportunity to hail the efforts of the DSC’s taskforces for
their instrumental efforts. “I commend the role of the DSC’s taskforce in
general and the Innovation Taskforce in particular for their great effort to promote
an open innovation culture, to enhance its gains and to implement the global
and future best practices in this field which we give a high priority.”
The
Accreditation Certificate was presented by Mr. Hitendra Patel, Executive
Director of GIMI, to Mr. Tariq Al Janahi, Deputy Executive Director and CEO of Happiness
and Quality of Life at DSC, in the presence of Ramlah Al Wahidi, Director of
the Strategy and Institutional Excellence Office, along with the DSC’s Innovation
team members. Patel expressed his appreciation for DSC’s initiative and its
success in obtaining the certification. He said: “I would like to congratulate DSC
as the first institution in the GCC to be granted Level 1 of the international
gold standard for Innovation and being a role model for other countries.”
Coinciding
with the UAE Innovation Month, DSC hosted a group of elite Emirati innovators
to showcase their experiments, experiences, innovations. In his lecture titled “How
to be innovative In Seven Points”, the innovative engineer, Yousif Al Borai
from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), shared with DSC’s staff
his most important innovations and solutions to many of the challenges he
faced. Additionally, the innovative student, Huda Ahmed Al Mutawa, showcased her
first innovation which was a hydrogen car operating by distilled water as a
clean energy to preserve the environment and reduce pollution.
On
the sidelines of the UAE Innovation Month, DSC organized a number of
initiatives and events, including using the “Nail and Thread art” to promote
the concept of innovation in daily work. During the 4-day activity, DSC staff
produced the logo of the UAE Innovation Month. The activity is meant to develop
skills that employees use on a daily basis at workplace environment, such as: teamwork,
integration, the ability to think, to make decisions and think positively.
