Consumer Prices Indicator in Dubai Declines During July 2017

The Annual Inflation Rate of Goods and Services Prices of Dubai in the consumer basket hit a rise level by 1% during July 2017 compared to the same period in 2016.

A report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) revealed that change in prices of Miscellaneous Goods and Services was influential and led to a rise by 10.78%. Relatedly, prices of Education Group rose by 5.2%, Clothing and Footwear Group 4.18%, Restaurants and Hotels Group 1.84%, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel Group 0.86%. In the meantime, prices of certain groups featured a decline, including: Recreation and Culture Group 14.59%, Tobacco Group 4.86%, Transportation Group 1.73%, Health Group 1.38%, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group 0.60%, Communications Group 0.54% and Food and Beverages Group by 0.02%.

The monthly inflation indicator of goods and services prices in the consumer basket declined by 0.95% in July 2017 compared to June 2017. The drop is attributed to a decline in prices of Transportation Group by 8.32%, Food and Beverages Group 0.42%, Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group 0.20%, Restaurants and Hotels Group 0.16% and Recreation and Culture Group by 0.03%.

Quite the reverse, prices of Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group hit a rise by 0.37% and Communication Group 0.01%,

Meanwhile, Tobacco, Clothing and Footwear, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel, Health Education groups maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
