Construction Cost Index of Dubai Drops by 0.36pc in Q1-19

Construction costs went down during the first quarter of 2019 by 0.36 percent, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

 

It was found that the construction costs went down by 0.29 percent for residential buildings and by 0.069 percent of non-residential buildings. 

 

It is noted that the Construction Cost Index (CCI) in Dubai stood at a rise by 1.51 percent when comparing CCI of the first quarter of 2019 to the first quarter of 2018 due to a surge in construction cost of residential units by 1.53 percent and by 1.34 percent for non-residential units, a DSC report said.

The statistics issued by DSC show that the raw materials and materials used in the construction of buildings dropped by 0.01 percent due to a decline in Manufacturing Group by 0.04 percent.

 

Additionally, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category went down by 0.88 percent due to a decline in the cost of hiring equipment by 1.77 percent.

 

Residential Buildings

 

The statistics also showed that the raw materials and materials used in the construction of residential buildings went down by 0.03 percent due to a decline in Manufacturing Group by 0.07 percent.

 

Additionally, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category decreased by 0.70 due to a decline in the cost of hiring equipment by 1.77 percent.

 

Non-Residential Buildings

 

The raw materials and materials used in the construction of residential buildings increased by 0.08 percent. The surge in prices is attributed to a rise in prices of Mining Materials and Quarrying Group by 0.67 percent and Manufacturing Group by 0.05 percent.

 

Moreover, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category dropped by 1.57 percent due to a drop in the cost of hiring equipment by 1.77 percent.

The DSC’s statistics also revealed that the raw materials and materials used in the construction of buildings went up by 1.51 percent due to a rise in Mining Materials and Quarrying Group by 9.07 percent.  

 

Furthermore, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category increased by 3.19 percent due to a surge in labor wages and other costs by 4.38 percent.

 

 

Residential Buildings

 

The statistics revealed that the raw materials and materials used in the construction of residential buildings went up by 1.53 percent due to an increase in Mining Materials and Quarrying Group by 9.07 percent.

 

Additionally, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category surged by 3.38 percent due to a rise in labor wages and other costs by 4.38 percent.

 

Non-Residential Buildings

 

The raw materials and materials used in the construction of residential buildings increased by 1.34 percent. The rise in prices is attributed to a surge in prices of Mining Materials and Quarrying Group by 9.05 percent.

 

Additionally, prices of wages, equipment, labor, and other costs category surged by 2.46 percent due to a rise in labor wages by 4.38 percent.
