Dubai Statistics Center: Annual Inflation Rate of Dubai Stands at Rise by 2.85% in April 2017

A report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) revealed that the Annual Inflation Rate of goods and services prices in the consumer basket hit a rise level by 2.85% in April 2017 compared to the same period in 2016. Change in prices of Miscellaneous Goods and Services was influential and led to a rise by 11.82%. Relatedly, prices of Transportation group rose by 9.38%, Education group 5.20%, Clothing and Footwear group 4.77%, Recreation and Culture group 2.74%, Restaurants and Hotels group 2.71%, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel 1.68% and Health group 0.31%. In the meantime, prices of certain groups featured a decline, including: Tobacco group 4.86%, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group 1.05%, Food and Beverages group by 0.88% and Communications group by 0.31%.

 

Consumer Prices Indicator Declines by 0.31% During April 2017

The monthly inflation indicator of goods and services prices in the consumer basket declined by 0.31% in April 2017 compared to March 2017. The drop is attributed to a decline in prices of Miscellaneous Goods and Services by 2.96%, Transportation group 1.69%, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group 0.24%, Tobacco group 0.18%, Communication group 0.07%, Food and Beverages group 0.02%, and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuel 0.01%. Quite the reverse, prices of Education group rose by 0.70%, restaurants and hotels group 0.10% and Recreation and Culture 0.01%. Clothing and Footwear as well as Health groups maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
