Dubai Annual CPI Stood at a Drop by 1.32% in January 2020

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit another drop level by 1.32 percent in January 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and fuel Group by 5.37 percent leading inflation to go down by 2.28 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group by 3.21 percent that lessened inflation by 0.06 percent, Recreation and Culture Group declined by 0.19 percent and Health Group by 0.01 percent.

In the meantime, CPI of Transportation Group rose by 4.92 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.51 percent, Food and Beverages Group went up by 1.62 percent leading inflation to rise by 0.21 percent, Education Group increased by 1.66 percent pushing inflation rate by 0.15 percent, Tobacco Group by 14.74 percent adding 0.09 percent to the inflation rate, Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group went up by 0.42 percent pushing inflation up by 0.03 percent, Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.53 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent, Restaurants and Hotels by 0.37 percent pushing inflation rate up to stand at 0.02 percent and Communication Group by 0.20 percent adding 0.01 percent to inflation rate

 

CPI Stood at a Decline by 0.57% in January 2020

As for the CPI of January 2020 compared to December 2019, it stood at a decline of 0.57 percent. Grounds for such an increase are attributed to a drop in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and fuel Group by 0.48 percent leading inflation to go down by 0.20 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group went down by 6.99 percent which lessened the inflate rate by 0.14 percent, Transportation Group by 1.14 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.13 percent, Recreation and Culture Group by 4.14 percent making the the inflation rate to stand at a decline by 0.05 percent, Food and Beverages Group by 0.39 percent making the inflation rate less by 0.05 percent, Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.39 percent lessening the inflation rate by 0.02 percent, Communication Group by 0.11 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.01 percent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a rise in rates, including Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group by 0.43 percent pushing inflation up by 0.03 percent, Education Group by 0.19 percent to add 0.02 percent to inflation rate, Restaurants and Hotels by 0.37 percent leading to a rise in inflation rate by 0.02 percent and Health Group by 0.02 percent.

On the other hand, the Tobacco Group maintained its former levels during the period of comparison.
