Dubai Annual CPI Drops by 2.80% in October 2019

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit a new drop level by 2.80 percent in October 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 5.77 percent leading inflation to go down by 2.45 percent, Transportation Group by 6.62 percent that lessened inflation by 0.75 percent, Food and Beverages Group declined by 0.04 percent making inflation rate less by 0.01 percent, Communications Group went down by 0.13 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.01 percent and Tobacco Group decreased by 0.14 percent.

In the meantime, CPI of Education Group rose by 1.46 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.13 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group increased by 1.81 percent leading inflation rate to go up by 0.08 percent, Recreation and Culture Group went up by 3.88 percent pushing inflation rate to rise by 0.06 percent,  Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group rose by 1.07 percent leading the inflation rate to stand at rise by 0.06 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group rose by 1.70 percent adding 0.03 percent to inflation rate, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group rose by 0.51 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent and Health Group went up by 0.15 percent.

CPI Drops by 0.27% in October 2019

As for the CPI of October 2019 compared to September 2019, it stood at a decline by 0.27 percent. Grounds for such a decrease are attributed to a decline in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel Group by 0.41 percent leading inflation to go down by 0.17 percent, Transportation Group went down by 0.95 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.10 percent, Recreation and Culture Group went down by 2.68 percent leading inflation rate to drop by 0.06 percent, Food and Beverages Group declined by 0.48 percent making inflation rate less by 0.06,  Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 0.52 percent pushing inflation rate down by 0.03 percent, Communications Group and Health Group stood at a decline by 0.03 percent and 0.01 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a rise in rates, including Clothing and Footwear Group which rose by 5.90 percent pushing inflation to rise by 0.11 percent, Restaurants and Hotels Group went up by 0.34 percent adding 0.02 to inflation rate, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance Group rose by 0.62 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent. Tobacco Group and Education groups rose by 0.05 percent and 0.01 percent respectively.
