Dubai Annual Price Index Drops by 3.12% in July 2020

The report issued by Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) states that the annual general index of consumer prices dropped by 3.12% in July 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, as the prices of the following sectors were dropped: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 5.41%, which reduced inflation by 2.23 points, Transportation dropped by 10.69%, which reduced inflation by 1.20 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 13.62%, which reduced inflation by 0.92 points, Clothing and Footwear dropped by 1.42%, which reduced inflation by 0.03 points and Communications dropped by 0.03%.

On the other hand, price index of the following sectors was increased: Foods and Beverages increased 2.50%, which boosted inflation by 0.33 points, Education increased 1.87%, which boosted inflation by 0.17 points, Tobacco increased 15.96%, which boosted inflation by 0.09 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased by 0.61%, which boosted inflation by 0.04 points, Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance increased 0.16%, which boosted inflation by 0.01 points and Health Sector increased 0.06%.

Whereas the prices of Restaurants and Hotels remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.


Consumer Price Index dropped by 0.11% in July 2020

General monthly index of consumer prices dropped by 0.11% in July 2020 compared to June 2020 as a result of price drop of the following sectors: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuel dropped by 0.28%, which reduced inflation by 0.11 points, Foods and Beverages dropped by 0.50%, which reduced inflation by 0.07 points,  Furniture, Furnishings and Household Appliances and Maintenance dropped by 0.47%, which reduced inflation by 0.02 points, Entertainment and Culture dropped by 0.09%, Communications dropped by 0.04% and Clothing and Footwear dropped by 0.03%.

While prices of the following sectors were increased: Transportation increased 0.82%, which boosted inflation by 0.08 points, Miscellaneous Goods and Services increased by 0.28%, which boosted inflation by 0.02 points and Health Sector increased 0.04%.
Prices of the following sections were stabilized: Tobacco, Education and Restaurants and Hotels Sectors' prices remained at their previous portions during the period of comparison.
