Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) stated that the annual inflation index of goods and services in the consumer basket in Dubai increased by 2.99% in November 2016, compared to the same month of 2015, as the increase in the school fees impacted the increase in the prices of the education group by 7.17%, while the index of clothes and footwear group showed an increase of 5.65%.
The change in the prices of residency, water, electricity, gas and fuel group showed an increase of 4.17%, while the prices of the restaurant and hotel group increased by 2.34%. Also, there was an increase in the prices of goods and services in the group of miscellaneous goods and services by 2.31%. Also, the index of the transport group increased by 1.34% and that's of the hotels group by 0.48%, entertainment and culture group increased by 0.23% and tobacco group increased by 0.15%.
Meanwhile, the group of furniture, furnishing and home appliances and their repair decreased by 0.78%, the prices of communications group decreased by 0.27% and the health group by 0.26%.
The monthly inflation index showed an increase in the prices of the goods and services in the consumer basket by 0.12% in November, 2016 compared to October, 2016. This came as a result of the increase in the price of the food and beverage group by 0.51%, while the transport group increased by 0.43%. The index of residency, water, electricity, gas and fuel group showed an increase of 0.18%, while both tobacco and health groups increased equally by 0.02%, while the prices of goods and services decreased.
