"Dubai Government Job Excellence Program" honors DSC for its Solutions in the Forefront of the Superiority Makers' Projects

Dubai Statistics Center is the best in applying benchmarking

DSC came in first place as the best entity to apply the benchmarking methodology TRADE as part of Superiority Makers program affiliated with Dubai We Learn initiative, adopted by Dubai Government Job Excellence program. DSC won for its project "For Statistics We Innovate" which it participated with, among 13 distinctive projects submitted by Dubai Government's bodies and entities, chosen from 23 projects nominated by all governmental organizations that aim at utilizing knowledge transmission and sharing, corporate learning in developing and improving governmental services and performance.

Abdullah Al Shaibani, the General Secretary of the Executive Council of Dubai and head of Dubai Government Job Excellence program stated, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Nusairat, general coordinator of the program, that DSC won as the best entity to apply the benchmarking methodology TRADE. Al Shaibani honored DSC team of workers in the presence of Tariq Al Janahi, DSC's Deputy Executive Director and sponsor of the project.

Also, in the presence of Ramla Al-Wahidi Strategy and Corporate Excellence Office Manager of DSC and Naima Abdullah, Head of Creativity and Innovation Unit, as well as the work team, during the finale of Superiority Makers program, in which governmental bodies and entities submitted their projects under the supervision of an international specialized consultancy.

Enhancing Collaboration

Abdullh Al Shaibani expressed, during the first meeting held by Dubai Government Job Excellence program, his happiness for honoring the work team that achieved the greatest accomplishment and was the most progressing, during the first meeting held by Dubai Government Job Excellence program, to review the extent of progress achieved by the participating projects in Superiority Makers program, as part of "Dubai We Learn" initiative. He stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration among governmental entities for the sake of continuous improvement and enhancement of governmental performance until the realization of "One Government" concept.

 

Establishing and Activating a New unit

Mr. Arif Obaid Al Muhairi, Executive Director of DSC, stated that, "The winning project "For Statistics We Innovate" is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, May God protect him. It is also in line with the governmental policies and trends, especially those aiming at enhancing governmental creativity and innovation so as to make people happy. This is reflected in establishing and activating a new unit at DSC whose goal is to apply the best practices in the Creativity and Innovation Unit, as well as deepen the creativity culture in the employees, propose policies and develop methodologies supporting creativity and innovation in the different regulatory units of DSC and its different processes.

The unit also aims at the active implementation of Suggestions and Complaints system, covering all relevant stakeholders domestically and internationally, in addition to forming innovation Lab, having brainstorming, knowledge management, R&D workshops and safeguarding the entity's rights through copyrights and patent rights and also participation in awards, conferences, memberships with leading, specialized entities in the field of creativity and innovation.

Mr. Al Muhairi expressed his deepest gratitude for Dubai Government Job Excellence Program for its leading role in developing the governmental sector and launching distinctive, constructive initiatives. He commended "Dubai We Learn" initiative which will be a milestone in the government's application of the best practices in a scientific, systematic way, especially that the initiative will be implemented through excellently qualified work teams, as the relevant persons will be exposed to an integral scientific program. Al Muhairi considered this initiative a support for DSC's fulfillment of its vision to become an international statistics center that boosts development in the emirate of Dubai.

An Integrated Policy and Plan

Naima Abdullah, Head of Creativity and Innovation Unit, explained that DSC has established the unit and included in its strategy an integrated policy and plan to manage corporate creativity and innovation, in order to enhance an incentivative environment, support leadership for creativity and innovation, discover talents and refine their skills. She pointed out that the unit will work on contributing to continuous development from a creative perspective and raise the competitiveness of DSC through suggesting ideas and creative developmental proposals, implementing them and following up their results.

She added that the Creativity and Innovation Unit overlooks the processes of getting acquainted with the best practices, enlarging the knowledge circle and regulating it in an organizational framework. All that aims at fulfilling the higher goal, which is making customers and stakeholders happy. The head of Creativity and Innovation Unit added that DSC highly interacted with Dubai We Learn initiative and adopted it as one of the major programs of the unit, as the timeline of this initiative continues till October 2016 and it includes a number of qualitative programs that will undoubtedly contribute to developing the creativity and innovation management process at DSC.

She asserted that this collaboration will represent a great added value to the participating institutions in general and DSC in particular, as the program will realize financial and non-financial benefits to the organization, stakeholders and the government in general. It also gives the chance to learn and apply the best practices to enhance creativity and innovation, as well as raise the satisfaction of stakeholders. It is also an opportunity to improve performance through communication among the different governmental entities and sharing of experience.

She also pointed out that the training program included in the initiative that will be conducted by an international institution represents a great added value especially that the members will reach the level of expertise in knowledge sharing and benchmarking.
