Dubai Inflation Rises by 0.50% in Q2 2019 Compared to Q1 2019

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit a rising level by 0.50 percent in Q2-2019 compared to the Q1- 201, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

DSC report has revealed that CPI witnessed an increase in its rates due to a rise in prices of Transportation group by 8.68 percent pushing inflation rate by 0.90 percent, Recreation, and Culture group by 5.79 percent adding 0.11 percent to inflation rate, Clothing and Footwear rose by 3.46 percent leading inflation rate to increase by 0.07 percent, Food and Beverages group rose by 0.35 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.05 per cent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went up by 0.29 percent pushing inflation up by 0.02 percent, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group by 0.32 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.01per cent and Communications group which rose by 0.28 percent leading inflation rate to increase by 0.01 percent.

In the meantime, CPI of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas went down by 1.55 percent leading inflation to decline by 0.66 percent, Restaurants and Hotels group declined by 0.33 percent pushing the inflation rate by 0.01 percent and Health group decreased by 0.08 percent.

As for prices of Education group, they remained stable during the period of comparison.

 

CPI Declined by 2.72% in Q2-2019 Compared to Q2-2018

As for the CPI of Q2- 2019 compared to Q2- 2018, analysis shows that it went down by 2.27 percent. Grounds for such a decrease are attributed to a shrink in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas went down by 6.35 percent leading inflation to decline by 2.74 percent, Clothing and Footwear decreased by 4.57 percent to push inflation rate down by 0.10 percent, Food and Beverages group by 0.07 percent leading inflation rate to drop by 0.01 percent and Health group went down by 0.30 percent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups stood at a rise, including Hotels and Resturants which rose by 2.44 percent adding 0.10 percent, Recreation and Culture group went by 3.82 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.07percent, Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance increased by 1.34 percent adding 0.05 percent to inflation rate, Transportation group by 0.36 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.04 percent, Tobacco group went up by 2.54 percent resulting in a rise in inflation rate by 0.01 percent, Communications group by 0.12 percent leading inflation rate to increase by 0.01 percent and Education group by 0.03 percent.
