Dubai Annual CPI Drops by 2.87% in April 2019

The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) Rate hit a drop level by 2.87 per cent in April 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas by 6.28 per cent leading inflation to go down by 2.72 per cent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services group went down by 3.48 per cent pushing inflation down by 0.21 per cent, Clothing and Footwear by 6.80 per cent decreasing inflation by 0.14 per cent, Food and Beverages by 0.52 per cent that lessened inflation by 0.06 per cent and health group by 0.30 per cent.

In the meantime, CPI of Restaurants and Hotels group went up by 2.40 per cent leading the inflation rate to rise by 0.10 per cent, Recreation and Culture group by 3.12 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.06 per cent, Transportation group by 0.48 per cent leading inflation rate to increase by 0.05 per cent, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance group by 1.05 per cent adding to the inflation rate 0.04 per cent, Tobacco group by 2.86 per cent to increase the inflation rate by 0.02 per cent, Communications group rose by 0.07 per cent and Education group stood at a rise by 0.03 per cent.

CPI Rises by 0.47% in April 2019

As for the CPI of April 2019 compared to March 2019 stood at a rise by 0.47 per cent. Grounds for such an increase are attributed to a rise in Transportation group by 6.84 per cent leading to an increase in inflation rate by 0.55 per cent, Recreation and Culture group by 6.25 per cent pushing inflation rate up by 0.12 per cent, Clothing and Footwear went up by 3.46 per cent adding 0.07 per cent to inflation rate, Communication group by 0.37 per cent leading inflation to rise by 0.02 per cent and Miscellaneous Goods and Services group by 0.13 per cent resulted in an increase in inflation rate by 0.01 per cent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a decline, including: Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas by 0.53 per cent leading inflation rate to decline by 0.23 per cent, Food and Beverages by 0.49 per cent that lessened inflation by 0.06 per cent , Health group declined by 0.08 per cent and Restaurants and Hotels group decreased by 0.04 per cent.

On the other hand, the groups of Tobacco, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance and Education maintained their former levels during the period of comparison.
