Dubai Annual CPI Drops by 2.02% in December 2019

 The Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate hit a drop level by 2.02 percent in December 2019 compared to the same period in 2018, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) reported.

It is revealed that CPI decreased due to a decline in prices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 5.33 percent leading inflation to go down by 2.25 percent, Transportation Group by 1.13 percent that lessened inflation by 0.12 percent, Recreation and Culture Group declined by 0.83 percent pushing the inflation rate down by 0.02 percent and Clothing and Footwear Group went down by 0.69 percent reducing the inflation rate 0.01 percent.

In the meantime, CPI of Education Group rose by 1.46 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.13 percent, Food and Beverages Group went up by 0.88 percent leading inflation to rise by 0.11 percent, Tobacco Group increased by 14.73 percent pushing inflation rate by 0.08 percent, Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.63 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.02 percent, Communication Group by 0.23 percent adding 0.01 percent to inflation rate, Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group went up by 0.11 percent pushing inflation up by 0.01 percent, Restaurants and Hotels by 0.10 percent and Health Group by 0.09 percent.

 

CPI Stood at Rise by 0.30% in December 2019

 

As for the CPI of December 2019 compared to November 2019, it stood at a rise of 0.30 percent. Grounds for such an increase are attributed to a rise in Transportation Group by 2.92 percent pushing inflation rate up by 0.32 percent, Recreation and Culture Group by 4.72 percent making the the inflation rate to stand at a rise by 0.10 percent, Tobacco Group went up by 14.94 percent leading inflation to rise by 0.09 percent,  Routine Household Maintenance Group by 0.24 percent adding to the inflation rate 0.01 percent, Clothing and Footwear Group went up by 0.03 percent and Health Group by 0.01 percent.

Meanwhile, prices of certain groups witnessed a decline in rates, including Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas Group by 0.40 percent leading inflation to go down by 0.16 percent, Food and Beverages Group went down by 0.22 percent lessening inflation rate by 0.03 percent,  Miscellaneous Goods and Services Group went down by 0.24 percent pushing inflation down by 0.01 percent, Communication Group decreased by 0.02 percent and Restaurants and Hotels by 0.07 percent.

On the other hand, the Education Group maintained its former levels during the period of comparison.
